Not quite flooding

I went for a bike ride down the Trent with Alan this morning.  You can clearly see how wet its been, though the ‘tide mark’ is 6 inches+ higher than it is now.  There was one section where the path was only an inch above the water, so we were lucky to be able to proceed.  There is a large weir just up river from us, and there is normally a tiny amount of water going over it, given how wide the weir is.  Today you could clearly see why it is that size – there was a vast amount of water, and the river below the weir, which is normally fairly calm, was a torrent, and twice the width it is normally.  Easy to see how someone swept into it would have some difficulty, even if they were a pretty strong swimmer
